This section details text formatting for both digital and print material. It covers the font, sizing, and website rules + examples.
Type
Font
For all web and print based media. Global Lingo uses Kumbh Sans.
Kumbh Sans is a Geometric Sans Serif font envisioned to serve as a multi-purpose and workhorse font in modern web and mobile applications. The anatomy is geometric with slight contrast. The font’s cap-height vs x-height ratio is kept as 3:2 for optimum legibility at any point size.
After initial release in three weights, the typeface has been converted into a variable font in June 2021 with a weight axis (100 to 900).
Sizing
For scaling typography, use the base value and the 1.200 Minor Third Scale, rounded to the nearest multiple of 4. For the website, we use a base value of 18px. Your base value will depend on the pt size of your document, or the <p> pixel size of the platform.
Scaling formula
B * 1.2X Round(4)
B = Base value
1.2 = 1.2 Minor Third Scale
X = No. of steps from the base value
Round(4) = Rounded up/down to the nearest multiple of 4
Examples
H6 (Smallest web header): 18px * 1.21 = 21.6 (Round down) = 20px
H4 (3 sizes from base value): 18px * 1.23 = 31.1 (Round up) = 32px
H1 (Largest web header): 18px * 1.26 = 53.75 (Round down) = 52px
